Kuho x Jeonghwa Seo
The 'Grid bag' was designed by artist Jeong-hwa Seo in collaboration with the Korean fashion brand Kuho. Kuho is a brand that implements inspiration from architectural aesthetics into fashion. Incorporating this design philosophy of Kuho, the design of the 'Grid bag' began with inspiration from Louis Kahn's architecture.
"The meaning of decoration is not to simplify the entire building and then add 'decoration' on top of it, but to accentuate the details of the joints where the materials meet and become natural decorations."
This famous quote emphasizes the idea that architectural elements, especially the joints or connections between the joints where various parts of a building meet, are the starting point of artistic expression and decoration in architecture.
Inspired by this, we designed Kuho's new signature pattern and logo, where the surface and lines of the bag are formed where the materials and functions that make up the bag are segmented. We also completed the first edition of this applied to a bag, the Grid bag.
'Grid bag'은 서정화 작가가 한국 패션 브랜드 구호와 협업하여 디자인했습니다. 구호는 건축적 미학에서 받은 영감을 패션에 구현하는 브랜드 입니다. 'Grid bag' 컬렉션의 디자인은 루이스 칸의 건축에 대한 영감을 바탕으로 시작되었습니다.
"장식의 의미는 건물 전체를 단순화한 후 그 위에 '장식'을 더하는 것이 아니라, 재료가 만나는 이음새의 디테일이 악센트가 되고 자연스러운 장식이 되는 것입니다."
이 명언은 건축적 요소, 특히 건물의 여러 부분이 만나는 이음새나 이음새 사이의 연결이 건축에서 예술적 표현과 장식의 시작점이라는 아이디어를 강조합니다.
이에 영감을 받아 가방의 면과 선이 가방을 구성하는 재료와 기능이 분절하는 위치에 형성되는 구호의 새로운 시그니쳐 패턴과 로고를 디자인 하였습니다. 또한 이를 가방에 응용한 첫번째 에디션인 Grid bag을 완성하였습니다.
